The Cybertruck has been spotted in Malaysia, local automotive website Paultan.org reports, citing a post shared by a member of its Automotive/Car Discussion Group on Facebook. Included is a photo featuring the EV still fully draped, allegedly in a local Tesla showroom, as claimed by the user who shared it.

While this could indicate that the company is finally gearing up to launch its first ever fully-electric pickup truck in Malaysia, it might not actually be the case. According to Soyacincau, the Cybertruck’s local appearance may be part of Tesla’s promotional tour across Asia. Prior to this, the EV had visited China and Japan, and will be displayed in Thailand this weekend. With a separate unit already here, it is very likely that a local showcase may happen soon, though the exact dates are still unknown.

Since it’s been a while, here’s a recap on the Cybertruck. As per its global debut in December, Tesla electric pickup is revealed to be available in three variants: a base model with rear-wheel drive (RWD), a mid-specs option with all-wheel drive (AWD), and a high-performance variant called the Cyberbeast with three electric motors.

The RWD model boasts a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 6.7 seconds, a top speed of 180km/h, a range of 402km, and a towing capacity of 3,402kg. The AWD variant, on the other hand, accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 4.3 seconds, with a top speed of 180km/h, a towing capacity of 4,990kg, and a range of 547km. The Cyberbeast, also an AWD model, achieves 0-100km/h in 2.7 seconds (with Beast mode activated), with a top speed of 209km/h and a range of 515km.

Both the AWD and Cyberbeast models support DC fast charging up to 250kW, and it should be noted that it is also Tesla’s first vehicle to feature an 800V architecture for its high-voltage battery system, as well as a 48-volt low-voltage electrical system. Additionally, the Cybertruck offers ample cargo space, with a total capacity of 3,424 litres, including 1,897 litres of lockable storage, and a maximum payload of 1,134kg.

Other notable features offered by Tesla’s retro-futuristic pickup includes an 18.5-inch touchscreen in the front, a 9.4-inch touchscreen for rear passengers, and 15 speakers with 2 dedicated subwoofers. There’s also a Vehicle-To-Load (V2L) capability, providing up to 11.5kW of power to external appliances or one’s home, along with various power connectors and wireless charging options.

In the US, the Cybertruck is priced at US$60,990 (~RM289,824), US$79,990 (~RM380,113) and US$99,990 for the RWD, AWD and Cyberbeast configurations, respectively. It is also worth noting that a page dedicated to the vehicle is already on Tesla’s local website, though it is not entirely clear whether the company intends to release it in Malaysia.
