Created specially to represent this year’s Chinese zodiac sign is the G-SHOCK MT-G Year of the Dragon limited edition (model name MTG-B3000CXD-9A), which was originally announced in November 2023. As promised by Casio last month, those interested will be glad to know that the new watch has now officially arrived in Malaysia.

To recap, the new G-SHOCK MT-G Year of the Dragon timepiece features an attractive design, which the company dubs as the “Golden Armor Divine Dragon”. It sports a dragon motif with engraved scale markings on its gold ion plated stainless steel parts, as well as a resin band with a stainless steel band keeper and a black ion plated rear case. The latter comes with a dragon engraving instead of the typical Casio and G-SHOCK branding.

Of course, being part of the G-SHOCK MT-G line, the watch also meets the triple G resistance standard (shock resistant, centrifugal force resistant, vibration resistant) via an advanced Dual Core Guard structure that protects the module in a carbon-reinforced resin case. According to Casio, repeated pressing as well as cutting and polishing makes up the stainless steel case back upward into an intricate 3D form.

Other notable features offered by the Year of the Dragon model includes Tough Solar charging, Multi-Band 6 auto radio time adjustment, dual time, stopwatch, countdown timer, alarm, auto date display, and LED light. There’s also the built-in Bluetooth smartphone link function which enables for automatic and accurate time adjustment.

As for pricing, you might want to brace yourself for the reveal (in case the title hadn’t already). The newly launched G-SHOCK MT-G Year of the Dragon limited edition is retailing for a whopping RM5,688 and is available now exclusively via Casio’s official E-commerce website. Interested consumers will be able to purchase it through selected G-SHOCK stores and authorised retailers nationwide towards the end of January 2024.
