The Google Pixel Fold has been rumoured since all the way back in 2019. Last week, the internet search giant confirmed that such a device will be unveiled during its I/O event. And as promised, the veil has officially been lifted off of the company’s first foldable device.
For the most part, the Google Pixel Fold doesn’t look too distinct from other such foldable devices in the market. Probably the key identifier of this particular one is the way the triple-camera combo is lined up at the back that has that distinct Pixel look to it. While we’re here, the camera combo is listed as consisting of a 48MP main + 10.8MP wide-angle and a 10.8MP telephoto shooter.
But to go over what the device comes equipped with in the surface, the outer display is a 5.8-inch Full HD+ screen with an aspect ratio of 17.4:9. It also supports up to 120Hz refresh rate, and gets a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus on top. There’s also a 9.5MP fixed focus camera here. On the inside of the fold, the Google Pixel Fold instead has a 7.6-inch 2208 x 1840 OLED screen with a 6:5 aspect ratio, also with up to 120Hz refresh rate. And if you need another camera here, you get an 8MP shooter.
Being a Pixel, the Google Pixel Fold comes with the company’ sown Tensor G2 chipset. Alongside it are 12GB of RAM, a choice of 256GB or 512GB of storage space, and a battery of 4821mAh, which gives it “beyond 24-hour battery life”, and support for up to 30W charging. All this is packed in a body that’s IPX8 rated.

In its home market, the Google Pixel Fold is priced at either US$1799 (~RM8015) or US$1919 (~RM8549), depending if it has 256GB or 512GB of storage space. Unfortunately, Pixel devices generally don’t make their way to our shores, and it doesn’t look like this will be an exception.
