Forza Motorsport May See A Release In Q3 2023 Or Later

Previously expected to release within the first half of this year.

During the recent Xbox & Bethesda Developer_Direct event, which saw the Microsoft subsidiaries surprise release Hi-Fi RUSH and announce the release date of Redfall, another game that made an appearance was Forza Motorsport. But unlike the other two titles, this one did not get an exact release date, and instead gets the vague 2023 release window. And while that was the extent of the official word on the matter, rumour has it that the game would release within the third quarter of the year, or maybe even later.

Speaking during the latest episode of the Game Mess Decides podcast, Jeff Grubb of Giant Bomb said that Forza Motorsport “is going to slip later into the year, and probably won’t be the first half of the year”. A few minutes later, he would specify that this would be “Q3, and maybe even a little bit later than that”.

It does make some degree of sense, especially considering that Xbox previously had a more specific release window for Forza Motorsport. Back in E3 of last year, the company announced that the game would see a release in spring 2023. The release window getting more vague is usually a valid cause for concern, and the company keeping quiet about it makes it even more of an eyebrow-raiser. As for reasons, one can speculate, but chances are it’s the usual, with the devs needing more time to polish the game up.

At any rate, assuming Jeff Grubb’s sources are accurate, there will probably another Forza Motorsport showcase come E3, if not earlier. If you wish to check out for yourself the specific parts of the podcast itself where the quotes are pulled from, you can jump to the 17:00 and 18:55 marks on the video embedded above and linked below.
