The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) today has officially launched the 2021 edition of its virtual e-commerce conference, the Go-eCommerce Expo. Scheduled to take place until 23 September, the event aims to increase the adoption of e-commerce among local businesses.

In order to do that, MDEC has partnered up with various companies to share their knowledge and expertise with more than 3,000 local businesses that are expected to participate in the virtual conference. Among such companies included Grab, Lazada, Shopee, Foodpanda, MPAY, PGMall, Revenue Monster, Senangpay, and many more.

A huge part of the virtual conference is the knowledge sharing sessions with prominent industry figures that will cover various aspects of e-commerce and related platform. Not only that, some of the sessions will also talk about creating brand awareness and leveraging social media to boost e-commerce activities.

There will be six time-slots every day involving one hour for each session, and a live Q&A with the speakers at the end of each webinar. Here is a sample of what went on at the virtual conference earlier today:

The Go-eCommerce Expo is part of MDEC’s broader #SayaDigital initiative, meant to upskill and encourage digital adoption among the rakyat. According to the Malaysia Digital Economy Blueprint (MyDIGITAL), the digital economy is set to contribute 22.6% to the country’s GDP by 2025. MDEC previously announced that it plans to provide skills and knowledge for the digital industry to 100,000 Malaysians by the end of this year.

“The pandemic has made it abundantly clear that digital adoption is a necessity for the success of our businesses. MDEC, through our #SayaDigital initiative, will continue to strongly support local businesses leveraging on the Belanjawan 2021 and the recent PEMULIH programme,” said Mahadhir Aziz, who has just been appointed as the CEO of MDEC earlier this month.

Even though the event has already started today, MDEC still welcomes any budding entrepreneurs and companies that are interested to learn more about e-commerce to participate in the virtual conference by registering themselves at this website.
