OnePlus is reportedly gearing up to launch a new smartphone series. The announcement was made by Pete Lau, CEO of OnePlus, via the brand’s forum.
More importantly, Lau says that the new OnePlus series will be a “more affordable” smartphone lineup, suggesting that the brand could once again be reentering the mid-range smartphone market. Naturally, considering that this is OnePlus, it’s also likely that the new series may still be fitted with above-average hardware, and a design language similar to the current OnePlus 8 series.
Unfortunately, Lau’s announcement post fails to mention any details regarding the phone; not even about its potential chipset, the main camera, or the display. On a side note, Lau does state that the affordable lineup will be introduced to the market in limited quantities and as such, OnePlus will first circulate it within the European and Indian market. Before ultimately deciding if the phone will be released into other markets.
On another note, it’s possible that OnePlus could be launching its new lineup sometime in July. This is based on a cryptic message that the brand had posted via its Instagram account called OnePlusLiteZThing. Specifically, the message is simply the month of July written in Morse Code, with no further details of explanation.
In any case, we’ll just have to be patient and see what devices OnePlus will have concocted in July.
