After launching various tiers of 10th Gen Core processors for laptops for the past few months, Intel has now shifted its attention to the 10th Gen Core desktop processors. Leading the release of the Comet Lake-S family is the Intel Core i9-10900K which the company has claimed as the world’s fastest gaming processor.

This is because Intel stated that the Core i9-10900K can reach clock speed of up to 5.3GHz for single core or 4.9GHz on all cores although these clock speeds are achieved through Intel Thermal Velocity Boost technology. That means the processor need to be paired with a good cooler in order to reach these speeds.

Intel’s justification behind the need for such a high clock speed.

Carrying 10 cores and 20 processing threads, Intel stated that the Core i9-10900K delivers double digit improvements over its predecessors in many applications. For example, the processor apparently still able to reach 187 fps on PUBG while the game is being streamed and recorded at the same time.

Here is the summary of the performance claims that Intel has published for the Core i9-10900K:

Supports up to dual-channel DDR4-2933 RAM, the 125W unlocked processor also carries Intel UHD Graphics 630 although one can opt for Core i9-10900KF which doesn’t come with the integrated graphics. Scheduled for release from May onwards, the Intel Core i9-10900K is priced at USD 488 (~RM 2,099) while the Intel Core i9-10900KF goes for USD 472 (~RM 2,051) although their availability and pricing for Malaysia is not yet known at the moment.
