HyperX, the gaming arm of Kingston Technology, seems to have surprised the world with the announcement of its self-titled ChargePlay Clutch. An ergonomic grip for smartphones, designed for mobile gaming.
To be clear, the ChargePlay Clutch isn’t a controller in the traditional sense; as mentioned, the accessory is essentially a pair of contoured grips, absent of analogue sticks, a D-Pad, and any buttons. In the middle of the grips is a vacant space, large enough to accommodate phones as large as an Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max or Samsung Galaxy Note 10+.
Of course, like most grips, the ChargePlay Clutch’s main objective is to provide mobile gamers with a more comfortable gaming experience on their device. In this case, it could include titles such as Fortnite, PUBG Mobile, and the recently released Call of Duty: Mobile.
Moving on, the ChargePlay Clutch is also capable of keeping your mobile device topped up without needing to be plugged in. Thanks to the removable 3000mAh battery that employs 5W Wireless Qi charging and snaps on to the back magnetically. Of course, if it requires a charge, that can be done via the built-in USB-C port – both on the accessory and battery – and provided cable.
The HyperX ChargePlay Clutch is currently available in the US for US$59.99 (~RM266). At the time of writing, there is still no word on local availability or pricing.
