Alongside with the Mi CC9 Pro and Mi Watch announcement, Xiaomi has announced its next-generation smart TV with the Mi TV 5 and Mi TV 5 Pro. The smart TV comes in three sizes with the Pro variant with better panels and specifications.

As a start, both models come in sizes of 55, 65 and 75-inch, along with 4K LED panels using Samsung’s Quantum Dot technology. Beneath the hood, the non-pro Mi TV 5 packs an Amologic T972 chipset with a 3GB / 32GB combo, while the Mi TV 5 Pro variant comes with a 4GB / 64GB setup.

Both TVs are capable of playing 8K content via USB, albeit being downscaled to 4K and at just 24 fps. Additionally, both models support Dolby Audio and are tuned for DTS-HD lossless audio.

Design-wise, Xiaomi has narrowed down the bezels on both the Mi TV 5 and Mi TV 5 Pro, with the bezels on the 55-inch TVs having been shaved down to just 1.8mm. The TVs also sport an ultra-slim design, with the 55-inch model having a thickness of just 5.9mm, 6.0mm on the 65-inch, and 9.9mm on the 75-inch.

In regards to colour accuracy, the Mi TV 5 Pro has a 108% NTSC colour gamut, while the Mi TV 5 has an 85% NTSC colour gamut. Additionally, the Pro variant of the Mi TV 5 will support HDR 10+, as well as a screwless frame design that is carved out of a single sheet of aluminium.

As smart TVs, both TVs will feature Xiao Ai, Xiaomi’s homegrown virtual assistant. On top of that, users will be able to activate Xiao Ai with the four far-field microphones in the smart TV.

Price-wise, the Mi TV 5 starts from 2999 yuan (~RM1770) for the 55-inch, 3999 yuan (~RM2360) for the 65-inch, and 7999 yuan (~RM4721) for the 75-inch. On the other hand, the Mi TV 5 Pro starts at 3699 yuan (~RM2183) for the 55-inch, 4999 yuan (~RM2950) for the 65-inch, and finally 9999 yuan (~RM5901) for the 75-inch.

At the time of writing, Xiaomi Malaysia did not announce if and when the Mi TV 5 series will be arriving on our shores.
