UPDATE (8:00 PM): Celcom has announced that it has managed to restore all of the affected services in the Northern region of Peninsular Malaysia at 6:30 PM. Read further for more details.
ORIGINAL STORY (5:45 PM):
Celcom has revealed that its network is currently facing disruption in the Northern part of Peninsular Malaysia. This was confirmed through an announcement on its Twitter and Facebook page.
Due to the disruption, data, SMS, and voice services for customers within the region which includes Perlis, Kedah, Penang, and Perak might be affected. The announcement also stated that the disruption was caused by fibre failure.
SERVICE ALERT: If you're in Perak, Perlis, Kedah and Penang, you may experience disruption in voice, SMS & data services due to a double fiber failure.

Despite facing a “double fibre failure” which sounds rather serious, the affected services is expected to be restored by 8:00 PM. We’ll keep you updated once we we hear further updates from the telco.

Celcom has announced that the data, SMS, and voice services in all of the affected regions have been restored at around 6:30 PM today:
However, the company didn’t provide additional details behind the double fibre failure incident that took down its Northern region link.
