The Sega Mega Drive Mini was first announced last year, and is set to be released on 19 September this year. Fortunately, it looks like we will also be getting it here in Malaysia on the very same day as the global release.
That said,the version that we are getting is the US version, the Sega Genesis Mini. Those who are familiar with the Mega Drive will also know that there’s a US version called the Genesis. This particular one comes with controllers with three buttons instead of the usual six.
Either way, the Sega Mega Drive Mini and Genesis Mini are about 55% smaller than the original console from 1988. They will even feature replica ports and a sliding volume control. As previously reported, the controllers are plugged in via USB ports, and connects to a display of your choice via HDMI. It will also have 42 games preinstalled.
Again, the Sega Genesis Mini will be available starting from 19 September.It’s distributed in Southeast Asia by Epicsoft Asia, and you can pre-order it from Impulse Gaming, the former’s retail partner in Malaysia. For other pre-ordering avenues, Epicsoft Asia said that online pro-orders will be made available closer to the launch date. The Sega Genesis Mini will be priced at RM359.
