There are days when you start to wonder why certain individuals exist in this world, or even why they lack the common sense to refrain from performing certain actions. An unidentified Chinese man, for example, decided it was a smart idea to bite into an iPhone battery.
The man in the video, which we managed to find on YouTube, was filmed in what appears to be a mobile electronics shop somewhere in China. It looks as if the man was searching for a replacement battery for his iPhone, and in an attempt to test its authenticity, bit into it.
Less than a second after the act, he narrowly avoided being engulfed in the ensuing fireball by throwing the away the battery. Miraculously, and despite the man’s oral folly, no one was hurt from the explosion.
The theory behind biting into a battery is sound – from a certain point of view. Poorly constructed dry cells may have walls that are too thin to separate the reactive components; and pressing down on them could cause a catastrophic chain reaction. Which seems to be what happened in the video. On the other hand, there are probably better ways for doing this.
So, the moral of this story here is: Please, for the love of all that is good in this world, don’t go biting into mobile phone batteries. There are better ways to test for fake batteries.
