Machines Protection Plan Helps You Avoid Paying RM 1799 For New iPhone X Screen

Each iPhone X comes with 1-year warranty but it doesn’t cover two of the most common damages that could happen to the phone: accidental drops and liquid spills. Fortunately, users can obtain absolute peace of mind against these damages by opting for Machines Protection Plan (MPP) alongside their iPhone X.

Priced at RM 899, MPP is available exclusively to customers that purchased iPhone X at Machines outlets and supported by AON Malaysia as its insurance broker. In addition to the damages that we mentioned above, MPP also extends the warranty coverage to two years.

Now, let’s jump into the specifics. The RM 899 fee that we mentioned above is technically the upfront fee for the plan that covers parts and labor costs. Hence, users still need to pay the service fees to repair their iPhone X although at much lowered price.

For example, shall the repair job required users to completely replace their iPhone X, they will be charged RM 499. That is way lower than paying for the full price for a brand-new iPhone X when you consider the calculations below:

New iPhone X

= RM 5,149 or RM 5,899

MPP Full Device Replacement for iPhone X

= MPP Upfront Price + Device Replacement Service Fee

= RM 899 + RM 499

= RM 1,398

Battery replacement is also part of MPP which has a service fee of RM 49. While Machine didn’t reveal the standard price for iPhone X’s battery, but we expect it to be quite high anyway since the company stated that the battery price for iPhone 8/8Plus is RM 399.

Interestingly though, there is no service fee for screen replacement which is a big deal since the standard price for an iPhone X’s screen is RM 1,799. This might be the biggest reason to sign up for MPP although the idea of paying additional RM 899 after forking out almost RM 6,000 for the iPhone X seems to be rather painful.

Nevertheless, it is certainly a good alternative to AppleCare+ extended warranty plan which is not offered for iPhone X (or any other iPhone before it) in Malaysia. Meanwhile, do note that MPP is also available for iPhone SE, iPhone 6, iPhone 6s/6s Plus, iPhone 7/7 Plus, iPhone 8/8 Plus, and Apple Watch with a starting price of RM 299.
