While Yes 4G still operates its LTE and legacy WiMAX networks simultaneously in order to deliver its 4G services, the company has previously stated that there will come a time where it will switch exclusively to LTE. It seems that day might take place sooner than we expected as we have learned that Yes 4G has started to roll out a yet-to-be-announced LTE mobile hotspot to its customers.

This is based on a hands-on video of the device which is called Huddle XS LTE by a Yes 4G customer in Penang. According to his explanation, it was Yes 4G itself that offered him the new device as a replacement to the existing WiMAX-based Huddle XS mobile hotspot that he has been using for the past few years.

The video is quite blurry, although we can see some of the device’s specs right here which include 2.4GHz channel for its WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, support for up to 10 devices as well as LTE band 38 and 40. It also apparently equipped with USB 2.0 port for charging and data tethering alongside 2000mAh battery.

From his video, the new device seems to be slightly bigger than the original WiMAX-based Huddle XS and features a monochrome display that showed the device’s connection as well as battery status.

The video also showed that the modem is accompanied by a letter which stated that the customer received 20GB of data quota per month for his Yes 4G Postpaid 68 plan. That means he received 4GB more than the identical plan listed on the company’s website.

Since we believe that he is not the only customer that received Huddle XS LTE mobile hotspot from Yes 4G, we have reached out to the company in order to obtain official comment on the new device. For the meantime, do share your experience in the comment section below if you have also received Huddle XS LTE from Yes 4G.
