Many people, including Astro subscribers, may not have heard of its rewards programme called Astro Circle. Previously known as Astro Life, it offers plenty of benefits and rewards for subscribers as the company’s way of saying “thank you”.

You might want to pay more attention to Astro Circle from now on, as Astro Life has now been upgraded with a new, unique loyalty points program called Astro Circle Points that offers not only cash rebates to offset your bill, but also money-can’t-buy experiences including a DJ experience at Hitz.fm!

The new Circle Points program has been integrated into Astro Circle, and eligible subscribers will automatically start earning Circle Points starting from this month. Allocation of Circle Points has already commenced from 1 April 2014, and all eligible Astro subscribers will be able to see their Astro Circle Points entitlement from today onwards in their bill statement.

Interestingly, the mechanism for earning Circle Points is different from conventional loyalty rewards programmes. Circle Points can be earned in three different ways:

  1. Primary Points awarded based on your tenure as an Astro customer
  2. Bonus Points awarded based on your subscription or packages
  3. Points awarded based on participation by customer

The first, and easiest way to earn Circle Points is based simply on how long you’ve been an Astro subscriber. The longer you’ve been subscribed to Astro, the more points you earn every month. Here’s how many points you earn based on your tenure:

  • 2-3 years: 40 points per month
  • 3-5 years: 50 points per month
  • over 5 years: 70 points per month

The second way to earn Circle Points is just as simple, and is based on what subscription you have and its value. Here’s how it works. If you…:

  • have a subscription to Astro SuperPack: earn 100 points per month, or
  • have Astro IPTV: earn 100 points per month, or
  • have a monthly bill that exceeds RM150: earn 100 points per month

Finally, you can also earn points on a one-off basis, where you can be rewarded with Circle Points for participating in activities such as customer surveys or even by setting up services such as auto-debit or e-billing.

Best of all, these three methods are cumulative. For example, if you’re a subscriber for six years with a monthly bill that exceeds RM150, you’ll automatically earn 170 points each month. You can potentially earn more if you take part in any seasonal activities that Astro holds for subscribers.

And here’s where it gets interesting. What can you redeem with Astro Circle Points? Naturally, you can redeem cash rebates (ranging from RM5 to RM20) to offset your bill; or the many, many Astro merchandise from its programmes such as The Voice, Oh My English! and the most successful Malaysian movie ever made, The Journey; or even tickets to the various Astro-produced events, such as Maharaja Lawak Mega and The Band. Even better, you can also redeem Circle Points for some awesome things, such as a DJ experience at Hitz.fm, MY FM or Era FM. You can also use Circle Points to redeem a tour of the Astro studios in Bukit Jalil!

Unfortunately, these points will expire after two years, so you only have a limited time to collect Circle Points to redeem that 30-day subscription of Astro on Demand Dragon Pack (3800 points), or that signed DVD of The Journey (550 points).

Finally, you can redeem your rewards with Astro Circle Points really easily as well, by going to www.astro.com.my/astrocircle and logging in using your Astro ID. Once you’ve made a redemption, an acknowledgement email will be sent from Astro…and that’s it. If you’ve redeemed one of the experience tours in the catalogue, someone from Astro will be in touch to arrange the tour. On the other hand, if your order does not appear in the redemption history tab, do contact customer service immediately to lodge a report.

To find out more about Astro Circle Points, head on to www.astro.com.my/astrocircle, where you can also find the redemption catalogue.
