The Nike Air Mag or the Back To The Future shoe Marty McFly wore in the 1989 movie was released as a charity auction pair in 2011 with 1,500 being sold on eBay on September the 8th. Even our very own se7en bid on a pair, but didn’t manage to get one. The general consensus was that while it was a great shoe to have in a collection and the LED panel and electroluminescent Nike swoosh was cool and all, this pair lacked a very important feature that was its coolest feature in the movie – Self Tying Laces.
This may be set to change in 2015. During an appearance in New Orleans, Nike VP For Design and Special projects Tinker Hatfield said:
“Are we gonna see power laces in 2015? To that, I say YES!”
Let’s hope this becomes a reality because you know, hoverboards and flying cars.
