Clarion Malaysia today have launched online pre-order promo for the AX1 Android-based Car Stereo, an 2-DIN in-vehicle infotainment system that runs on Google’s operating system. It is not actually a totally new product though as it was previously called Clarion Mirage but Mirage was only made available for OEMs.
Running of Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread, the Clarion AX1 Android-based Car Stereo is equipped with 6.5-inch LCD capacitive display together with an ARM Cortex-A8 processor and 1GB of RAM. The introduction price of RM 1,599 instead of its standard retail price of around RM 2,400 and is only valid for the first 3,000 pre-order units that are available exclusively through the company’s online music store partner, the UK-based Infogo.
Once pre-ordered, customers will receive their pre-order unit in early November – around the same time when Clarion AX1 arrived at dealers. Stay tuned for our hands-on experience with the device which we will then elaborate about its capabilities very soon.
