It wowed us back in June at WWDC, it wowed us again today. Apple’s gorgeous new Mac Pro workstation has officially been launched at the company’s event today, alongside the refreshed MacBook Pro and new iPad Air.
The new, radically redesigned Mac Pro is powered by an Intel Xeon E5 12-core processor, and can be configured to pack up to a mind-boggling 64GB of RAM. There’s also two AMD FirePro D300 (or even a D500) professional GPUs with up to 6GB of VRAM, while storage options can be configured up to 1TB of flash storage via PCI-Express. As for connectivity options, the new Mac Pro is no slouch either: there are six Thunderbolt 2 ports, four USB 3.0 ports, and two Ethernet ports, and an HDMI port.
The Apple Mac Pro will be available in selected markets from December, with the base model – sporting a “modest” set of specs such as a 3.7GHz quad-core Xeon processor, 12GB of RAM, dual AMD FirePro D300 and a 256GB SSD – costing a princely $2999 (the higher-end configuration costs $3999). There’s no mention yet if the workstation will be available in Malaysia, however.
