The Samsung Premiere event did not only unveil premium products that were reserved for the highest-end markets, but there were also some good news for those looking for something more affordable. Alongside the flagship ATIV Book 9 Plus and ATIV Q, the Korean company also announced the new ATIV Book 9 Lite Ultrabook, ATIV Tab 3 Windows 8 tablet, and the ATIV One 5 Style all-in-one PC.

The ATIV Book 9 Lite, as the name suggests, is a lower-end variant of the new ATIV Book 9 Plus Ultrabook. The magnesium chassis is replaced for a plastic one, and the ATIV Book 9 Lite also adds a little more heft and weight (16.9mm and 1.44kg) compared to its premium brother, the Book 9 Plus (13.6mm and 1.39kg).

Also, the Book 9 Lite is not equipped with and Intel Haswell processor. Instead, Samsung has gone for a custom-designed quad-core 1GHz chip to power the Book 9 Lite. Interestingly, Samsung is touting a Haswell-like battery life of 8.5 hours out of this chip, but we can’t say for sure if that will be the case in real life usage. The 13.3-inch touch display on the Book 9 Lite is also pared down to a more traditional 1366 x 768 resolution. But, just like its elder brother, the Book 9 Lite also sports a hinge that allows the display to be flipped 180 degrees.
On the other hand, the ATIV Tab 3 is a Windows 8 tablet on a diet: this is, according to Samsung, the world’s thinnest tablet in its class: the ATIV Tab 3 features a chassis that is only 8.2mm thin and weighs a mere 550g.
However, the ATIV Tab 3 offers a full-featured Windows 8 experience, powered by an Intel Atom Z2760 1.8GHz processor with 2GB of RAM. Also, the S Pen, with its 1024 points of sensitivity, is also bundled together on the tablet. The 10.1-inch touch display has a resolution of 1366 x 768, and there’s a healthy 64GB of storage that is expandable via microSD cards. The non-removable battery on the ATIV Tab 3 is also rated for 10 hours of use.
Finally, there is the all-in-one PC with a name that’s quite mouthful: the Samsung ATIV One 5 Style. Featuring a design language that is evocative of the company’s flagship Galaxy S4 smartphone, the ATIV One 5 Style offers a “minimalist, sophisticated build”. With a 21.5-inch Full HD touch display, this Windows 8 AIO is powered by an AMD A6 quad-core processor with 4GB of RAM. Inside, users can have up to 1TB of hard disk space, which is useful for the HomeSync Lite software. Featuring Samsung SideSync technology, HomeSync Lite allows users to easily back-up, manage and access their content on a smart phone, and also allows multiple users to privately manage their individual accounts on HomeSync Lite via the One 5 Style.

The sides of the AIO also tapers to a mere 4.5mm at the edges, while the display itself features a slimmer bezel for improved aesthetics. Round the back, where all the connectivity ports are, there are two USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI port, mini VGA port, LAN port and a 3-in-1 card reader. The 5.9kg AIO PC is only available in white, and matching accessories include a white wireless keyboard and mouse set.
Like every device announced at Samsung Premiere 2013, there was no information regarding pricing and availability. However, judging from the looming back-to-school season in the US, we may be hearing from Samsung pretty soon regarding the prices and availability.
