A leak of HP’s rumoured Chromebook plans turned out to be spot-on: exactly one week after the original leak of a HP Chromebook, Google and HP both announced the “full-sized” HP Pavilion Chromebook.
Featuring a 14-inch screen with a 1366 x 768 resolution, HP aims to capture some market share by offering a Chromebook that has the largest screen size of the lot. It is powered by the same processor as the Acer C7 Chromebook announced recently, which is an Intel Celeron dual-core processor running at 1.1GHz and paired with 2GB of RAM. However, unlike the C7 which has a generous 320GB hard drive, the Pavilion Chromebook only has 16GB of flash storage – although it is offset by the 100GB of free cloud storage that comes with all Chromebooks.
With a larger chassis, there’s more room for ports, and the Pavilion Chromebook sports a generous three USB 2.0 ports, LAN and HDMI port, as well as an integrated microphone and headphone jack. However, this 1.8kg Chromebook has a battery that is only slated for a little above four hours of use – much lower than the other Chromebooks Samsung, Acer and Lenovo.
The HP Pavilion Chromebook is available now at the US Play Store as well as HP’s US online store for $329.99.
