In keeping with the times, Facebook has just tweaked its “Subscribe” option on all profile pages. The feature, which pulls updates on the profile page of someone users subscribed to on their news feeds, has not changed, but the company felt that the move to change the name was necessary, as the “Follow” option seems to easier to understand among users from other social networks, such as Twitter (who incidentally were the first to use the “Follow” name).
The company released a statement regarding the change of name, and said that users can see the option from today:
“Starting today we are updating the term “Subscribe” to become “Follow” across the site as we found it is a better term that resonates better with people on the service. Nothing is changing about how the feature works.”
