MyMobile

Made to cater virtually any given mobile phones out there, a new mobile banking service called MyMobile made its official debut for Malaysian consumers today. Utilizing the USSD protocol, the new services is managed by Malaysian Electronic Clearing Corporation (MyClear) which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bank Negara Malaysia.

While the usage of USSD protocol might made MyMobile service looks primitive, consumers will not have to own a smartphone or download any apps in order to use the service. All one got to do is dial *500*888# to initiate a secure connection to the service and MyMobile’s menu (shown below) will then appear once the connection is successful.

Depending on respective bank, users are able to perform a variety of transactions through MyMobile such as fund transfer, bill payment, mobile prepaid reload, cheque management, credit card payment, bill payment and of course, account management. Currently, the service is available for customers of CIMB Bank, Maybank and Public Bank. Furthermore, they must also be customers of either Celcom, DiGi or Maxis in order to connect to MyMobile.

In conjunction with the launch, MyMobile is giving away 30 iPad Mini 16GB WiFi and 30 Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 to customers with highest transaction amount picked up by the system for the next 60 days. The service will also be available for free until April 30 but once that period is over, users will be charged RM 0.20 for every four minute as well as bank charges if it is applicable.
