Malaysian telco Maxis has announced what it calls the Mission-Critical Communications solution. The company says that it’s the first in Malaysia “to provide voice, live video, and data with network priority over its nationwide mobile network”. The service was showcased to officials from the Ministry of Digital, the Ministry of Defence, the armed forces, and various security and enforcement agencies at the Cyber Digital Services, Defence & Security Asia (CyberDSA) 2026 event.
Available through Maxis Business specifically, the solution “connects frontline personnel and first responders directly to central command centres, giving teams a dedicated communications link built for demanding field environments”. In other words, this gives the aforementioned first responders a priority lane for their own communications needs during emergency incidents and natural disasters, when such network traffic is expected to be congested. The integration of voice, live video and data provides “a shared operational picture to both “field units and command centres”.

Maxis Business says that the launch of the solution “reinforces its role in powering critical digital infrastructure, delivering secure and scalable connectivity to support data centres, key sectors, and Malaysian businesses. Prateek Pashine, Chief Enterprise Business Officer of the telco, said “for those serving on the frontline and safeguarding the nation, reliable connectivity is fundamental. We stand ready to support the armed forces, law enforcement, and first responders with network priority, giving teams the real-time situational awareness to coordinate effectively and strengthen operational resilience”.
He also said that “in the AI era, digital infrastructure must be secure, scalable, and sovereign to ensure mission continuity”. While the service itself does not necessarily involve AI tech, the exhibition event where this was announced is themed “Building Digital Infrastructure for the AI world”. Incidentally, Maxis did previously announce the deployment of an AI-powered network firewall for voice and SMS traffic as part of its multi-tiered security protocols.
