Acer Malaysia has launched two things today. One is a new Predator Concept Store at Plaza Low Yat, and the other is the Predator Orion 7000 refresh. The latter is arguably the more important one, though it does look a bit strange when you compare it directly to the model that came before. In fact, it doesn’t look like much has changed at all.
Taking a quick glance at the spec sheet, the refreshed Predator Orion 7000 desktop features an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K processor, and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 graphics card. If you’re thinking this sounds mighty familiar, this is because it’s the same processor and graphics card pairing as the Predator Orion 7000 from last year. For what it’s worth, the case is of a slightly different design.
Elsewhere, Acer has given the refreshed Predator Orion 7000 32GB of DDR5 RAM and 1TB of SSD storage. These can be upgraded after the fact up to 128GB and 6TB respectively, with the latter being facilitated by two M.2 slots. The brand also highlights the Predator CycloneX 360 cooling system and the CPU liquid cooler that, together, boosts cooling efficiency by 15% and lowers motherboard temperature by nine degrees Celsius.
The price is another eyebrow raiser, unfortunately. Likely compounded by the memory shortage crisis, the refreshed Predator Orion 7000 costs RM18,999. For what it’s worth, Acer says getting it before 14 October also nets you a free Predator Cestus 335 mouse worth RM299.
As for the Predator Concept Store, as you’d expect, a new store opening means discounts. Acer says it’s offering price cuts of “up to RM1,300 on selected high-performance devices”. One notable offer is the Predator Rift, which you can get for RM399 rather than the usual RM1,299 retail price. Another is the Nitro desktop, discounted from RM4,699 to RM3,399. These offers stand until 31 October.
