MediaTek officially launched its latest flagship chipset, the Dimensity 9600 Pro. The new chip is built around the 2nm process node, supplied by none other than TSMC.
MediaTek claims that the Dimensity 9600 Pro is its fastest, most intuitive Agentic AI chip to date. The 2nm design is powered by 4th generation All-Big Core CPUs, arranged in a 2+3+3 configuration, comprising two ARM C2-Ultra processors; three ARM C2-Pro chips, each with 1MB L2 Cache; and three ARM C2-Pro chips with 512KB L2 Cache.

In terms of performance, MediaTek claims that its new flagship chip is 17% faster and 37% more power-efficient on single-core performance compared to its predecessor. Multi-core performance is 15% faster and 61% more power-efficient.
The Dimensity 9600 Pro also features a new dual-NPU architecture and, more specifically, a 2nd generation Super Efficient NPU 1090. Much like the CPU cores, the new NPU 1090 is expected to deliver 51% higher LLM prefill performance and 55% higher Token generation than its predecessor, thanks to its new Agentic AI capabilities. All this, by the way, is brought together through the chip’s new AI Computing Fusion Architecture.

Additional specifications of the Dimensity 9600 Pro include support for LPDDR6 memory and UFS 5.0 storage. Further, it’s got an upgraded Dimensity Scheduling Engine, allowing for better resource allocation.
On the graphics side of things, the Dimensity 9600 Pro plays host to the G2-Ultra NX GPU. Once again, MediaTek claims that the new GPU delivers up to 27% higher peak performance, while consuming 24% less power, and up to 18% faster ray tracing performance, providing higher “console-grade” gaming on a mobile device, at up to 185 fps.

As for imaging, the Dimensity 9600 Pro features an Imagiq 1290 ISP and a new Dimensity AI Imaging Fusion Architecture. Basically, it’s an NPU-powered imaging sensor capable of capturing videos at 4k240Hz, along with 4K60hz motion capture, among other quality improvements.
The MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro is expected to launch via the phones of brand partners this year. As an extra added bonus, the mobile chipmaker also launched the 9600M, which is basically a slightly watered-down version of the Pro that still delivers with an Agentic AI Engine and the Dimensity Scheduling Engine.
