Sony has scheduled a product launch for next week, specifically another addition to its Xperia lineup. Although the company did not mention any details on the upcoming device, it’s quite possible that it is the Xperia 10 VIII, given the timing and recent leaks.
The smartphone was quite recently spotted in a Geekbench listing, revealing a few tidbits. Unfortunately, those hoping for some upgrades may be disappointed. It seems that the device will feature the same chipset as its predecessor, namely the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. The entry also shows that the handset will come with 8GB of RAM, just like the Xperia 10 VII. As for the benchmark results, it scored 871 points in the single-core test and 3,028 in the multi-core test.
Beyond that, not much else is known about the Xperia 10 VIII so far, although it did pop up in an FCC filing about a month ago. This listing confirms that the phone will retain the 3.5mm headphone jack. The feature is unlikely to be going away anytime soon, since Sony’s smartphone division has gone on the record to say that the headphone jack and microSD slot are integral to the Xperia identity.
At the moment, it’s unclear how the new device will differ from its precursor. The last generation debuted in September 2025 with a new camera layout, so there probably won’t be any drastic design changes this time around. Although there could still be some upgrades in the cards, the few leaks thus far suggest that the Xperia 10 VIII will be pretty similar to the preceding model.

In any case, the event will take place on Tuesday, 25 August 2026 at 11AM Japan time. For us, that’s 10AM on the same day. Those looking to catch the official announcement as it happens can hop over to the brand’s YouTube channel linked below.
