Acer showed off its FreeMove Smart Monitor today. As the name suggests, the monitor isn’t your standard desktop display and is designed more for the bedroom and living room.
Let’s start with the sizes. the FreeMove is available in two sizes, 27-inch and 32-inch. At the time of writing, only the 32-inch model is available in Malaysia; Acer says that the 27-inch will only be available from mid-September onwards, due to some shipping issues in China.
The 32-inch model is the more premium of the two, featuring a 4K (3,840 x 2,160) display with 60Hz, plus a built-in 8,550mAh battery at its base. Additionally, the 32-inch is the only model that comes built with 10W USB-C port that can also double as a display output to a maximum resolution of 4K and 60Hz.
The 27-inch FreeMove comes with a lower resolution at Full (1,920 x 1,080) at 60Hz, and as we said, it doesn’t have a USB-C port. Regardless of size, both the 32-inch and 27-inch are equipped with a USB-A 3.0 and HDMI 2.0 port. As far as battery life goes, both are rated for an average of two hours of use.
As they are also technically tablets, the FreeMove line supports 10-point multitouch, and runs on Android 14 OS. Given its nature, Acer says you could use it as an secondary display through a wired connection or through wireless display mode, otherwise known as Wi-Di.
In conjunction with its availability, Acer is holding a special Merdeka launch promotion between now and 30 August. Customers who purchase the FreeMove will also receive a free portable monitor, depending on the size as well. If you’re getting the 27-inch, that’ll set you back RM2,699, and customers will receive a PM161QJ2 portable monitor worth RM299. For the 32-inch model, that costs RM3,499 and will net you a PM191QE portable monitor. All while stocks last, of course.
