The Ministry of Digital has announced that the MyGOV platform is set to gain an agentic AI-powered assistant. This will allow Malaysians to interact with government services in a more conversational manner and potentially have the system carry out certain tasks on their behalf. According to the ministry, the implementation will begin with a beta rollout in early August 2026.
Unlike conventional AI systems that primarily respond to user instructions, agentic AI is designed to understand context, plan the appropriate steps and interact with multiple digital services, subject to user consent and established permissions and controls. We’ve previously covered what agentic AI is and how it works in greater detail, so be sure to give that a read as well.

From Finding Services To Completing Them
With the system in place, users would not necessarily need to know which government agency or website handles a particular matter. Instead, they can describe what they want to do in simple language, with the agentic AI helping identify the relevant service and providing guidance on the steps involved.
Where supported, the system could also help execute the required actions through the relevant government systems. The ministry gave checking and paying police summonses as an example, where the assistant could guide the user from the summons payment menu through to completion. The ministry said the approach is intended to reduce the complexity of dealing with multiple government agencies and systems.

Phased Rollout
The Agentic AI implementation will be introduced in phases, with the government emphasising security, data privacy, information accuracy, transparency and human control. Its use will also be subject to the government’s existing AI governance framework and guidelines for adopting AI in the public sector. The Digital Ministry said it will work with relevant ministries and agencies to ensure the technology is deployed safely and responsibly across the government digital ecosystem.
Meanwhile, the ministry also noted that MyGOV has continued to expand since its introduction as a one-stop gateway for government services. As of July 2026, the platform had surpassed 2.9 million users and offered 52 services from 19 government agencies.
