Last month, HONOR showcased a smartphone with an AI gimbal camera, nicknamed the “Robot Phone”. When it was first revealed, the device looked more like a concept handset than anything. However, Li Jian, HONOR CEO, confirmed that the device is happening at the World Internet Conference.

To bring you up to speed, the Robot Phone essentially uses its gimbal camera to view and interact with the world around it. Moreover, the official concept trailer suggests that the device is capable of talking, interacting, and maybe even capturing photos of people.

According to reports, the HONOR CEO says that the company plans to release the device sometime in 2026. The smartphone will allegedly offer three key features: AI, personal intelligence, and a high-quality camera.

Android Headlines justified the phone by saying that “phones these days have peaked in terms of their technological progress” and that it will help the company “stand out from the crowd”. However, the publication did note that the pop-out camera seems “worryingly fragile” and may just break off.

Circling back to production, the CEO confirmed the company will bring the device to market, but the company has not decided whether it will mass-produce it. Android Police theorises that the device may only have a limited run and may not make it outside of China.

Unfortunately, the company has not revealed any specifics about the device yet. We’ll likely learn more as we approach MWC 2026, where the company plans to debut the device.
