Maybank, via its official website, has announced that it will soon restrict access to its online banking platforms from devices and web browsers running outdated or unsupported software. The move, according to the bank, is part of its continued efforts to ensure a safer and more secure digital banking experience for its customers.
The restriction will apply across Maybank’s digital services, including the MAE app, Maybank2u website, as well as the M2U Biz and M2E platforms. The bank said that implementation of this security update will take place in stages.

On mobile, Maybank will end app support for devices running older operating systems, specifically Android 9 and 10, as well as iOS 14 and 15. Users running these systems may soon find themselves unable to access or update the bank’s apps.
As for web access, browsers that fall below the supported versions will no longer be compatible. These include Opera version 116 and below, Microsoft Edge version 133 and below, Google Chrome version 133 and below, Mozilla Firefox version 134 and below, and Safari version 17 and below.

To maintain full access and functionality, Maybank advises customers to update their devices to Android 13 or higher, and Apple iOS 18 or higher. Meanwhile, the bank notes that users on Android 12 or 13, as well as iOS 16 or 17, will still be able to use Maybank’s apps, though their accounts may be subject to lower daily transfer limits as an added security precaution.
