Leica has expanded its Reporter design series with the introduction of the new SL3 Reporter, a tougher variant of its flagship SL3 mirrorless camera. Like other models in the series, it features the distinctive dark green finish and improved durability aimed at professionals working in demanding environments.
This new edition features a scratch-resistant coating and a tough aramid fibre wrap, which is the same class of high-strength synthetic material used in protective gear like Kevlar. Combined with the SL3’s IP54 weather sealing, the aramid construction enhances resistance against wear and heat while maintaining a lightweight profile.

Leica also refined the exterior design with black controls, a unique textured grip for better handling, and the omission of its trademark red dot logo to maintain a low-key, professional look. According to the company, these details reinforce the SL3 Reporter’s purpose-built design for fieldwork and documentary use.
Internally, the SL3 Reporter retains the same hardware as the standard SL3. It’s equipped with a 60MP full-frame sensor offering 15 stops of dynamic range, ISO sensitivity up to 100,000, and burst shooting at 15fps. Its hybrid autofocus system combines phase detection, contrast, and object tracking for faster and more reliable focusing, complemented by advanced face, eye, and animal detection features.
For video, the camera supports DCI 8K recording at 30fps and DCI 4K at 60fps in 10-bit colour depth, along with external HDMI output and ProRes recording (limited to 1080p). It also comes with a tilting 3.2-inch LCD, a 5.76M-dot OLED viewfinder, dual card slots for CFexpress Type B and SD UHS-II cards, and full-sized HDMI and USB-C ports with mic and headphone support.

The Leica SL3 Reporter is now available in Malaysia via the Leica Store, Leica Online Store and their dedicated distributors for RM38,500. For reference, the original model which launched last year is currently retailing at RM36,400.
