Nintendo is officially rolling out a new app for Android and iOS called the Nintendo Store App. Much like most digital stores, the app allows users to peruse and purchase the gaming company’s vast range of products.
In a way, the app isn’t technically new; it is a reimagining of the My Nintendo app that debuted exclusively in Japan back in 2020. That said, the app is expanding and is now currently available in the US, Canada, the UK, and some parts of Europe.
As per Engadget’s report, the app allows users to purchase physical and digital games, accessories, and even merchandise. The publication also mentions that, to finalise a purchase, users need to go through the product page or the in-app browser. It’s worth noting that Android Authority reports the app simply opens the eShop product page in your default browser, describing it as merely an easier way to find products.
Regardless, the app will also give you the latest news about games, events, and more. It will even notify you if an item on your wishlist goes on sale. Furthermore, users can use the app to check in and earn rewards when they visit a physical Nintendo store or event.

Not only that, but the app also lets you track your play activity for any game across consoles, including the 3DS and Wii U. However, users are required to link in their respective Nintendo Network ID to your Nintendo Account for this to work, but play activity after February 2020 will not be shown.
As you might have guessed from the second paragraph, the app is not available in Malaysia, at least not yet. However, since the app emphasises checking in at Nintendo’s physical stores or events, I’d like to speculate that if it ever launches in Malaysia, it might also coincide with a physical store opening here. But, again, that’s just a theory, so take it with copious amounts of salt.
