Insta360 has introduced the new X4 Air, a lightweight 8K 360-degree camera designed to sit between the company’s X4 and flagship X5 models. Despite its compact form, the new camera promises high-end performance at a more accessible price point.
Weighing just 165 grams, the X4 Air is the lightest 8K 360 camera the company has made, noticeably lighter than both the X4 and X5. It’s also slightly shorter, measuring 113mm tall, making it easier to carry and handle.

The X4 Air records 8K video at 30fps, or 4K video at up to 50fps. In single-lens mode, it can record 1080p video at 120fps for slow-motion footage. While its imaging capabilities are somewhat trimmed down compared to the X4 and X5, the new model’s 1/1.8-inch dual sensors still offer a 134% increase in pixel area per frame over the X4’s 1/2-inch sensors. Insta360 says this helps produce sharper detail and more vivid colours straight out of the camera.

Like the X5, the X4 Air features user-replaceable lenses that can be swapped in seconds and are coated for better durability. It also retains the waterproofing up to 15 metres, gesture and voice controls, and the brand’s signature Invisible Selfie Stick feature for drone-like shots. Users can reframe footage within the Insta360 app to create dynamic, multi-angle perspectives.

The lighter design does come with a trade-off in battery life, with the X4 Air’s 2,010mAh battery rated for up to 88 minutes of 8K recording, compared to the X5’s 100 minutes. However, its compatibility with most X5 accessories means users can still enjoy a versatile setup.

The Insta360 X4 Air is now available in black or white through the brand’s official Shopee store in Malaysia. The Standard bundle retails at RM1,599, while the Starter bundle, which includes a 114cm invisible selfie stick, lens cap and extra battery, costs RM1,779.
