Earlier in the month, HONOR officially launched its Magic8 series of smartphones in China. The series is originally composed of a base and a Pro model, but a new leak suggests that the company is working on an Ultra variant of the device, GSMArena reports.
The leak originated from Digital Chat Station, who claims that the upcoming smartphone will have a quad-curved 6.71-inch LTPO OLED screen with “1.5K” resolution. The display is also said to have an embedded ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and support for 3D face recognition.

In terms of performance, the device will allegedly have a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, much like its base and pro counterparts. The upcoming device may also feature a battery capacity somewhere in the 7,000mAh range. For reference, the base and Pro Magic8 use a 7,000mAh and 7,2000mAh battery, respectively.
On the optics side, the device’s main shooter will reportedly have a 50MP OmniVision OV50R sensor featuring ultra-high dynamic range. As per OmniVision’s official website, the sensor will be mass-produced in Q1 of 2026. Because of this, Notebookcheck speculates that the device might make its way to market in that same timeframe. It was also alleged that the device will have a new 200MP periscope telephoto lens.

As mentioned in the paragraph above, the Magic8 Ultra is expected to release early next year, though no specific date was given. It goes without saying that leaks like these need to be taken with a grain of salt, as none of this information came from the official source (save for the OmniVision sensor). Will undoubtedly hear more information about the device as we move closer to its projected release date.
