An owner of a Samsung Galaxy S25+ had the unfortunate pleasure of watching their phone have a meltdown, literally. Supposedly, the phone just spontaneously combusted out of the blue.
Cheoenjian-ah told his tale on the Samsung community forum: they were simply holding their S25+ in their hand when the phone began to heat up and make a loud noise. In that moment, they threw the phone to the floor and watched it burn itself from the inside out. “I was holding the S 25+ in my hand and it started to overheat and make a loud noise, so I threw it on the floor and it started to ash.”

Cheoenjian-ah also noted that their S25+ wasn’t being charged at the time of the meltdown, so there’s no blame to be thrown at a faulty charger or outlet. They also said that they had already passed the phone over to Samsung’s Service Centre in South Korea but, at the time of writing, the cause of the burnout is still unknown.
This isn’t the first time Samsung’s products have exploded. In Turkey of September last year, an owner of a pair of Galaxy Buds FE earbuds suffered permanent hearing loss after one of the earbuds exploded in their ear. By comparison, Cheoenjian-ah can count their lucky stars that they were able to quickly dispose of their affected Galaxy S25+ at an instant, without any reports of bodily harm.
