Apple has launched the latest iPad Pro refresh with the M5 chip earlier in the month. Which seems to be as good a time as any for details of the next refresh to appear online. The newest claim is that, when the M6 version of the tablet rolls around, it will feature vapour chamber cooling.
This comes via the Power On newsletter by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, who also says these are coming in 2027. More specifically, these M6-equipped iPad Pro are coming in spring of said year, or between late March and late June. Probably worth noting is that the chip upgrade is not necessarily a given even if it is likely.

Vapour chamber tech is anything but new in the mobile industry, though these are more prevalent in the Android market. Apple has successfully dipped its toes into the space with the iPhone 17 Pro, so it’s not particularly surprising that the tech is moving on to the tablets. The change in cooling tech has also been deemed necessary as, with growing performance with the devices, the iPad Pro can “occasionally hit its limits and overheat”.
Another benefit, if you can call it that, is further distinction between the iPad Air and the Pro, which also happens to be marginally thinner now. Following the redesign of the former, the two are getting more and more similar. As it is, one of only two notable differences are the chip, and the gap of two generations between them. The other being the screen, rated at 60Hz and 120Hz respectively.
