DJI has officially unveiled its latest smartphone gimbal, the Osmo Mobile 8, which introduces several upgrades over its predecessor. Among these include 360-degree rotation, improved tracking features, and new lighting and connectivity options.
The Osmo Mobile 8 retains DJI’s signature 3-axis stabilisation system but now supports unlimited 360-degree horizontal rotation, allowing users to capture smooth panoramic footage and dynamic tracking shots. Similarly, it retains a built-in extension rod for more flexibility when shooting low-angle videos or selfies.

DJI has included a new multi-function tracking module to the gimbal, which integrates subject tracking, audio recording, as well as a fill light with adjustable brightness and colour temperature. The light module supports motion detection which enables the gimbal to automatically follow subjects without manual input. Hand gesture support is also available, allowing users to start or stop video capture and adjust focus before shooting.
The Osmo Mobile 8 supports the new ActiveTrack 7.0 system, which promises smoother and more reliable subject tracking, even during fast movements. It also enables dual-camera tracking through the DJI Mimo app for users who want to film with both front and rear smartphone cameras simultaneously.

In terms of hardware, DJI has redesigned the fourth-generation magnetic clamp to better support larger and heavier smartphones, including those with protruding camera modules. The gimbal also supports both grip and magnetic mounts compatible with Apple’s MagSafe system.
Battery life is rated for up to 10 hours, and the Osmo Mobile 8 can double as a power bank via its USB-C port. Additionally, it is compatible with the company’s latest audio accessories, including the DJI Mic 3, Mic Mini, and Mic series microphones.

In China, the DJI Osmo Mobile 8 is priced at CNY898 (~RM532) and includes the OM Magnetic Phone Clamp 4, tracking module, charging cable, and other accessories. A separate Vlog Kit bundle is also available for CNY997 (~RM591). Pricing and availability for other regions, including Malaysia, have yet to be announced.
