Leapmotor recently unveiled its flagship SUV, known as the D19, in China. The model is offered in two variants: a fully electric (EV) version and an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV). Additionally, this model marks the first car to be built on the manufacturer’s D platform. And the list of firsts doesn’t end there.

As revealed by the automaker, the D19 is also the first to feature an on-vehicle oxygen generator with a maximum capacity of eight litres per minute. The purpose of this  is to enable people to travel in high-altitude areas with ease. However, for now, it appears that this feature is only available for models in China.

Design-wise, the D19 features a three-stage headlight cluster that can also be used as a projector. The front end includes a lower grille that opens and closes automatically according to surrounding and environmental conditions. There is also a LiDAR unit placed on the roof of the car.

At the rear, the SUV sports a full-width slim taillight that stretches to the side beam. It contains 11,025 LED units, and there is an indicator in the middle of the taillight, presumably displaying the car’s remaining battery level. The D19 is available in five colour options: green, white, silver, grey, and black.

There is not much information available about the interior of the car, but it seems likely that there will be ample legroom and storage space. This can be inferred from the car’s dimensions; 5,200 mm in length, nearly 2,000 mm in width, and a wheelbase of 3,100 mm.

In terms of performance, the EV variant of the D19 comes with a powertrain producing 540 kW, capable of completing the century sprint in four seconds. It is powered by a 115 kWh CATL battery pack that combines both lithium iron phosphate and ternary lithium materials, offering a range of 720 km. The EV D19 features a 1,000V platform, enabling it to replenish up to 350 km of range in just 15 minutes.

As for the EREV variant, it is equipped with an engine paired with two electric motors, producing 400 kW of power. It completes the century sprint in five seconds and is powered by an 80.3 kWh battery pack, offering 500 km of EV-only range and featuring an 800V platform.

Another highlight of the D19 is its dual Qualcomm Snapdragon 8797 chipsets, delivering a computing power of 1,280 TOPS. These chipsets are used for both the cockpit system and advanced driving assistance functions.

Leapmotor has yet to announce the official pricing of the D19, and it is expected to begin deliveries during the first half of 2026. At the time of writing, there has been no announcement regarding a global debut.
