HONOR has officially launched the Magic8 series in its home market, succeeding last year’s Magic7 lineup. Featuring a base model and a Pro variant, the phones come with a new AI button that serves as a shortcut for the brand’s YOYO AI assistant.
Starting with the regular Magic8, the device sports a 6.58-inch OLED LTPO display with a 1,256 x 2,760 resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, as well as a peak brightness of 6,000 nits. Aside from the customisable AI button, the phone comes with an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, as well as IP68 and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance.

Under the hood, it packs a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and a maximum of 1TB of storage. Keeping the lights on is a 7,000mAh battery with support for 90W wired and 80W wireless charging.
For imaging, HONOR has equipped the Magic8 with a triple camera setup. This comprises a 50MP 1/1.56-inch sensor with OIS, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, and a 64MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. For the selfie enthusiasts, the front features a 50MP shooter.
As for the Pro model, it gets the same display, but slightly bigger. The 6.71-inch OLED LTPO panel features a 1,256 x 2,808 resolution. Like its vanilla sibling, the phone gets the same fingerprint sensor and IP ratings. However, it also comes with a 3D depth camera, allowing the user to unlock the phone with their face.
Internally, it comes with the same Qualcomm flagship silicon, with your choice of either 12GB or 16GB of RAM. Like the base version, the Magic8 Pro also gets up to 1TB of storage. As for the battery, the fancier model gets a bigger 7,200mAh capacity, with support for 100W wired and 80W wireless charging. That said, other markets may get smaller batteries to comply with regulations.
For photography, the Pro packs a 50MP main camera with an 1/1.3-inch sensor, f/1.6 aperture, and OIS. Additionally, it gets a 50MP ultra-wide shooter with 122 degree FOV. However, the highlight is the 200MP telephoto camera, which uses a 1/1.4-inch sensor with an f/2.6 aperture lens. This camera supports 3.7x optical zoom and OIS. The front snapper is a 50MP unit.
Both the regular Magic8 and the Magic8 Pro run on MagicOS 10, which comes with several AI-powered features. The software also features a refreshed look that probably takes inspiration from Apple’s Liquid Glass visuals, with transparent UI elements.

Both phones are available for pre-order in China. Pricing starts from CNY4,499 (~RM2,667) for the 12GB+256GB Magic8. As for the Pro model, it has a starting price of CNY5,699 (~RM3,379) for the 12GB+256GB option.
The brand has confirmed that it will be launching the phones globally, but it has yet to reveal any specifics. Based on the company’s track record, we may only be seeing the Pro model on our shores.
