Taking clear inspirations from all around.

For almost five years now, vivo has replaced the FunTouch OS for OriginOS in its home market of China. Now, the company is finally rolling it out to the rest of the world. Though by this time, the mobile operating system is already in its sixth version.

All that being said though, it looks like the company is not at all shy about showing where it’s taking inspiration for its mobile OS from. As a result, a lot of the features that OriginOS 6 provides will look immediately familiar. Though to the company’s credit, some things do get taken a step further with additional twists.

To start, the lock screen being customisable is nothing new. From letting you choose the font of your clock to putting it being the subject in your wallpaper, you’ve seen one phone maker or another do these. Where vivo takes things just a tad bit further is animating your wallpaper when your phone is slightly tilted.

Once you get through that though, things start becoming more familiar. vivo has given the OriginOS 6 UI animations that it claims to be inspired by water ripples. Then there’s what it calls Origin Island, which does just about everything that other Island does.

Not quite swinging to the other direction, but definitely the most unique feature of the OriginOS 6 is definitely the self explanatory Seamless Connectivity. We’ve seen the claim somewhat previously, but now the company has taken it system-wide rather than something exclusive to one model. That being said though, this relies on the other system having the vivo Office Kit installed.

After about five years of being exclusive to its home market, vivo is finally releasing OriginOS to the wider world with the OriginOS 6. It is available in the X300 series right out of the box, with rollout to older models running through to 2026. #vivo #vivoMalaysia #vivoX300Series #OriginOS6 #X300ZEISSImageGoFurther

It goes without saying that the vivo X300 series will be the first to get OriginOS 6 first, as they launch with it pre-installed. Beyond that, the company has unveiled a roadmap for which other devices will be getting the mobile operating system. Naturally, the more recent models like the X Fold5 and X200 line are, well, in line first. These are noted to be getting the update in November, which may or may not coincide with the local launch of the X300 series.
