Back when the Switch 2 was officially unveiled, the company announced that it will be launching the Nintendo eShop and Nintendo Switch Online services in four countries in the Southeast Asia region, including Malaysia. At the time, no further information was available. But now, we have confirmation that these services will launch next month, on 18 November 2025.

With the arrival of a local Nintendo eShop, Malaysian users will be able to directly purchase and download games and other content. Aside from that, users will also be able to acquire Nintendo Switch Online memberships. These memberships come with their own specific perks like exclusive games, and features like Save Data Cloud. And of course, there is the Game Chat feature introduced with the Switch 2.

Nintendo-Switch-2-Aus-Unit-17In the past, users have resorted to linking their accounts to other countries like the US. Naturally, this comes with its own set of complications, as the Nintendo eShops are tailored to each location with region-specific pricing and content.

Speaking of which, Nintendo has yet to reveal any specifics regarding the Malaysian eShop. The company stated that it will share more details at a later date. Aside from Malaysia, the company will also be bringing the online services to Singapore and Thailand on the same day. Interestingly, despite being included in the initial announcement back in April, the Philippines is excluded from this launch.
