Last week, realme announced a new long-term strategic partnership with Ricoh Imaging. In the announcement, the the former OPPO sub-brand revealed that the upcoming GT 8 Pro will serve as the first product of this collaboration. Ahead of the device’s official debut, realme has offered a few details on what to expect.
For starters, the realme GT 8 Pro will feature what the company calls a “Ricoh GR anti-glare main camera”. This setup includes a 7P anti-glare lens and a five-layer coating to reduce reflections. An ultra-transparent lens glass with double-layer AR coating serves to increase light intake for a light transmittance of up to 97%.

In addition to this, the phone will be compatible with Ricoh GR’s full-frame equivalent focal lengths of 28mm and 40mm. This makes it ideal for street photography. To emulate the traditional camera experience, the phone will also include an immersive viewfinder mode. This mode simply removes all the UI elements on the screen.
Furthermore, realme has collaborated with the Ricoh GR team on imaging algorithms. The Intuitive Algorithm Engine serves to mitigate issues like over-sharpening, over-saturation, and over-smearing. Other than that, the camera will come with RAW-level pixel processing to preserve image data, and full 10-bit color depth. A “super-light” HDR algorithm ensures a natural balance of shadow and light.

Aside from that, the GT 8 Pro will introduce five photography tones based on the Ricoh GR IV. These tones include Positive, Negative, High-contrast Black & White, Standard, as well as Monochrome.
The realme GT 8 Pro will be making its debut in China sometime this month, although no launch date has been confirmed yet. In the same vein, a global release date has not been specified, but reports suggest that it could happen in early November.
