The BYD Atto 3 has received some significant updates in China, as revealed through a new MIIT filing for a domestic sales licence in China. These updates enhance the 2026 crossover and allow it to remain competitive in the current electric vehicle (EV) market.
In terms of design, it seems that the 2026 model retains some of the design cues from the updated 2025 model, which include smoked headlights, a large set of trapezoidal intakes, blacked-out D-pillars, and an updated 18-inch wheel design. The EV has also been given a rear spoiler with a scalloped centre section.

The Atto 3 is now heavier at 1,880 kg, up from 1,625 kg previously. However, the dimensions of the car remain the same at 4,455 mm long, 1,875 mm wide and 1,615 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,720 mm. According to Car News China, the extra weight indicates a larger battery from the Fin Dreams package. It is also likely to feature the 800V system, which means the SUV will be able to support 150 kW DC chargers.
Meanwhile, the major update on the Atto 3 is the powertrain, with the facelifted 2026 model gaining extra power from the same permanent magnet electric motor. It is now claimed to produce 230 kW, which is almost 80 kW more than the current model.
