Realme has announced a long-term strategic partnership with Japanese imaging brand Ricoh Imaging, marking a significant step forward for the company’s mobile photography ambitions. The collaboration will be officially unveiled on 14 October in Beijing and will make its debut with the upcoming realme GT 8 Pro flagship smartphone.
According to realme, the partnership has been in development for four years, which is reflected in its recently shared “Four years in one snap” teaser. Described as one of the most comprehensive collaborations in mobile imaging, it focuses heavily on street photography, an area where RICOH’s GR series cameras have earned a strong reputation.

The company adds that initiative was inspired by the growing demand among younger users for more natural-looking images that reflect their individuality. realme vice president Chase Xu explained that the goal was to help users express their own visual style rather than conforming to uniform photo aesthetics often seen across social platforms.
Meanwhile, Ricoh Imaging general manager Kazunobu Saiki highlighted that both brands share a commitment to creativity and authenticity. He added that this partnership aims to elevate street photography culture, combining RICOH GR’s 30-year legacy with Realme’s smartphone innovation.

Regarding the upcoming realme GT 8 Pro, the smartphone maker said it will feature several imaging technologies co-developed by both brands. These include advancements in colour algorithms, image tones, and a custom camera interface inspired by the GR camera line. The result, realme claims, will be an “unprecedented imaging experience” that merges traditional photographic sensibilities with modern mobile capabilities.

More details surrounding the GT 8 Pro as well as the Realme–Ricoh partnership are expected to be revealed during the official announcement next week. And in case you missed it, the company has also confirmed that the phone will launch in Malaysia, but no exact date was given.
