The highly anticipated LEGO replica of Nintendo’s first handheld gaming console, the Game Boy, has finally arrived in Malaysia. The set, which was first announced back in July, is an almost one-to-one recreation of the device, and involves 421 pieces of bricks to construct.
Despite being a decorative replica of the Nintendo Game Boy, the completed model does come with some form of playability. These include the ability to swap out game cartridges of either The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening or Super Mario Land, which are also included as part of the set and built from bricks. Unfortunately, all of the buttons on the model are non-functional.

Another highlight are the different lenticular lens screens that you can swap and display behind the Game Boy replica’s display. These include in-game screens from both games that were mentioned earlier, as well as the console’s iconic “Nintendo” start-up screen. Besides these, the set also comes with stands for the replica and game cartridges.
The LEGO Nintendo Game Boy is available now, priced at RM279. Those interested can pick it up via certified LEGO stores nationwide, such as Box of Bricks and so on.

Oh, and in case you missed our earlier report, someone has successfully modded the replica to fully function as an actual Game Boy. Of course, the whole process is no easy task, so expect to spend extra as well as put in some additional effort if you wish to achieve similar results.
