Apple is expected to release new iPad Pro models equipped with its M5 chip sometime in the near future. Ahead of any official announcement, however, the one of the tablets has made its appearance in a couple of unboxing videos. Russian YouTubers Wylsacom and Romancev768 have revealed the 13-inch version in videos on their respective channels. If these names sound familiar to you, it’s because these two were responsible for the M4 MacBook Pro leaks last year.
As one can see from the videos, the upcoming M5 iPad Pro comes in a box that looks like that of its predecessor. The device itself also largely resembles the M4 version, with the same thin aluminium body in the same colours. Apparently, cases for last year’s model will also fit this tablet. That said, there are some minute differences, such as the lack of an “iPad Pro” branding on the back.

Aside from that, it seems that there aren’t many upgrades beyond the processor. The model depicted in Wylsacom’s video packs 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. For comparison, the 256GB and 512GB M4 models come with 8GB of RAM. As for how the M5 iPad Pro stacks up against the current generation, Geekbench testing showed that it’s 10% faster in single-core performance. As for multi-core performance, it exhibits a 15% improvement.
Previously, a report claimed that the new tablet will feature two front-facing cameras. Romancev768’s video highlights the presence of two cameras on the device: one at the top when in landscape orientation, and another on the portrait edge. However, the YouTuber notes that this second sensor “isn’t really a camera”.
Of course, it goes without saying that leaks should always be treated with a healthy dose of scepticism. That said though, these YouTubers did manage to get their hands on an unreleased Apple product in the past.
