Proton announced that its upcoming eMAS 5 EV will be available for booking from 4 October 2025, with further information to be revealed via a live stream event held on the same day. As you may recall, the electric hatchback was first unveiled earlier this year during the Malaysia Auto Show (MAS 2025), with details of the Premium variant revealed as part of the automaker’s ongoing MISI 5 tour across Malaysia.
To recap, the eMAS 5 is built on Geely’s Star Wish platform and carries a design closely aligned with that model. At the front, it features feather-inspired headlights, complemented by arrow-shaped LED daytime running lights. Meanwhile the rear mirrors the front with similarly styled feather-like taillights and a sleek roof spoiler. Rounding off the exterior are 16-inch alloy rims that complete its modern, dynamic look.

The interior is enhanced with the Atlas Auto operating system, which can be set to both English and Bahasa Malaysia, and this also applies to its voice command functionality. The cabin also features an 8.8-inch instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch infotainment screen powered by an Automotive Grade Chip, supporting both wireless and wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other features include a leatherette steering wheel and leather seats.

The Premium variant of the eMAS 5 is equipped with an advanced 11-in-1 integrated motor, delivering 85 kW of power and 150 Nm of torque. This setup enables the hatchback to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds. Powering the EV is a 40.16 kWh battery, which provides a WLTP-rated range of up to 325 km.
Charging is equally convenient, with support for 71 kW DC fast charging that replenishes the battery from 30% to 80% in only 21 minutes. For regular use, the vehicle also supports AC charging at 6.6 kW.
As mentioned above, these are the specifications of the Premium variant. Furthermore, the automaker has yet to reveal the full design of the EV hatchback. However, the full specifications, including the price of the vehicle, will be announced during the launch of the Proton eMAS 5.
