Following its announcement back in 2021, Insomniac Games is finally giving us a first look at the highly anticipated Marvel’s Wolverine game. Unlike the company’s web-slinging, wise-cracking hero, however, the trailer showcases Logan diving headlong into action with copious amounts of blood and severed limbs to boot.
The short gameplay trailer highlights Weapon X’s adventures, ranging from secluded woods and mountain tops to back-alley streets and dingy bars, fighting new and old foes alike along the way. In addition to the trailer, the official PlayStation Blog showcased the official cover art for the upcoming game, alongside a few more art assets.

Taking on the role of Logan will be Liam McIntyre, known for his roles in the Starz TV series Spartacus; JD Fenix in Gears of War 4 and 5; and Taron Malicos in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Details of the story are scant, but as per the “Behind The Claws” trailer, the narrative will heavily leverage the fact that Logan is an unreliable narrator. In addition to that, the PlayStation Blog teases the idea of “a dark past threatens to consume him [Logan]”, and we may have a vague idea of what the central conflict may be.
Along this adventure, we will see some familiar faces from the comics, namely Mystique and Omega Red. Not only that, but by the end of the gameplay trailer, Insomniac hints at the possibility of having Wolverine go toe-to-toe with a Sentinel.
Insomniac Games’ senior community manager Aaron Jason Espinoza said they like to break new ground with the Wolverine game, both in terms of gameplay and story, and that it would perhaps differentiate it from the company’s previous titles. He also wrote in the Blog that “We aim to deliver the ultimate Wolverine fantasy built on Insomniac staples like fast, fluid, and ferocious combat; exhilarating, action-packed set pieces; robust accessibility features; and a gripping story that taps into the core tenets of one of the most compelling comic book characters of all time.”

Unfortunately, neither PlayStation nor Insomniac Games has given an official release date for the game just yet. However, Insomniac Games says it is slated to launch on PS5 in Fall 2026 with the development team sharing more information about the title in Spring of the same year.
