MyDigital ID has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with HONOR Malaysia, making the company the first smartphone manufacturer to support the government’s digital identity adoption drive. Through this partnership, HONOR will pre-install the MyDigital ID application on its new smartphones, allowing users immediate access to digital verification services.
The initiative is part of Malaysia’s wider digital transformation agenda, which aims to have 15 million Malaysians registered with the MyDigital ID system by the end of this year. The MoU signing ceremony, which was held earlier today, was witnessed by HONOR South Pacific President Justin Li and MyDigital ID Chief Executive Officer Nik Hisham Nik Ibrahim.

During the event, Li said the inclusion of the app would simplify the registration process for Malaysians by enabling direct access to government and private services without the need for additional downloads or complex setups. Meanwhile, Nik Hisham highlighted the importance of the collaboration, stressing that Malaysians will now be able to use a secure digital identity as soon as they unbox their devices.
The collaboration begins with the launch of the HONOR X9d 5G, which comes pre-installed with the MyDigital ID app. Users can register their biometric data within the app to securely access services, reducing the risk of fraud and enhancing protection for personal information. Although, do note that the X7d and the Pad X7, which launched alongside the X9d 5G today, do not come with the app.
Nevertheless, it is very likely that we’ll be seeing future HONOR devices to come with MyDigital ID pre-installed. Beyond the current collaboration, Nik Hisham mentioned that the government is also hoping to expand similar partnerships across more platforms and connected devices to further streamline access.
