The backend digital infrastructure behind the RON95 petrol subsidy scheme BUDI95 will be managed by TNG Digital. While this was a previously unannounced detail, the Treasury secretary general Johan Mahmood Merican has confirmed this. The confirmation comes as part of a press conference, in response to a question by The Edge.
According to the outlet’s report, the central system is both set up and managed by TNG Digital subsidiary Nadi Tech Sdn Bhd. Probably worth noting at thing point that TNG Digital is itself a subsidiary of CIMB Group. On a related note, Finance Minister II Amir Hamzah Azizan adds that while the TNG eWallet can be used at all petrol stations, other petrol apps can naturally only be used at their respective stations.

The report also cites Johan as saying that the Shell app will start implementing a one-time eKYC verification “within a month or so”. This will be in line with other petrol brand apps, like Setel by Petronas, being usable as a verification method in lieu of the MyKad.
It was previously reported that despite the 300l limit per month afforded under the BUDI95 subsidy scheme that citizens were limited to one refuelling per day with the RM1.99 per litre price. The Ministry of Finance has since clarified that while there will not be a daily limit to refuelling, there will be other measures in place to prevent profiteering.
